about
During the summer of 2017 I began planning a tour to promote the release of my full-length album Vagabond for the summer of 2018. I spent one rainy day feverishly emailing venues around the country, and scheming up the grand-daddy of schemes - A Nationwide Busking Tour. When my wife came home I told her what I'd been cooking up. She couldn't believe I'd plan something so massive without at least talking to her about the idea, and so I told her she should come along. Quit your job, I told her. She said I can't quit my job, I could take a few weeks off maybe. I said, Meet Me In New Orleans, then. She said, Okay, but you have to write me a song by that name. Hence the song was born. A little over a year later we ended up taking a three week long road trip around the country and stopped in at the legendary FAME recording studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama where I recorded this song as a single with some old school session players.
lyrics
Meet me in New Orleans
'cause I've been driving for way too long
and it could be weeks now baby
before I get back home
So Meet me, meet me in New Orleans
'Cause I know, I know this past year has been awful hard
and I think I'm ready now baby
to let down my guard
Now please baby don't be mad
What other choice did I have?
I was born to live like a nomad
But I'll always come home
So meet me, meet me in New Orleans
'Cause I know this past year's been awful hard
and I think I'm ready now baby
to come back home
